Fall Porch Decorating Ideas: One Porch, Three Inspired Designs

Fall White Pumpkins

Recently we had a fun challenge to style one porch for Fall. We thought it would be the perfect way to give you some Fall Porch Decorating Ideas with three inspirations. So you get one porch with three inspired designs.

It's easy to get overwhelmed when thinking about where to start when it comes to your front porch. Sure, there are some traditional tried and true items you might want to include in your design, but I wanted to give you some of my top suggestions for creating a show stopping porch.

1) Pick a few key elements. Sometimes simpler is better.

2) Think about your color scheme you're wanting to achieve.

3) Use floral picks to integrate into your design.

4) Think about texture (i.e. Barn Wood, Metal, Greenery...)

5) Decide on a focal point.

6) Stack and layer.

7) Mix old and new.

8) Don't be afraid to try something different.

Let's get started!

Fall Welcome Door Hanger

How fun is Option #1?

We opted for a Door Hanger instead of a traditional wreath. this one was cut out of plywood with a Jigsaw and painted with Gold Dots. We used a Chalk Couture Welcome transfer that took about 2 minutes to complete.

Fresh Pumpkins

We love to mix in textures and color. The backdrop is a vintage Barn Door in red. The Floral pick helps pull in those red tones, too. We got those at Michal's.

I'm also obsessed with White and Green Pumpkins. We have some sitting in an old box and also in an Olive Bucket. We even hot glued some succulents to the top of one. The Pennant was customized using a Font transfer from Chalk Couture with White Chalk Paste.

I also love adding in Wood Beads to little vignettes like this. Adding in the New, helps keep the design fresh. And speaking of Fresh, our Fresh Pumpkin sign is a fun touch. Who says, signs are just for indoor decor. You can get one for your design in our Etsy shop.

Hayride and Pumpkins Sign

On the other side of the door, I continued with the theme of metal. We added Purple Mums to the Washstand and balanced the dark with light using the white on the Hayride/Pumpkins sign, which is easy to make with plywood and a little paint.

The Harvest Sign was another element that was fun to create. We painted the back of one of our Growth Rulers orange, bought letters from Hobby Lobby and attached them with Command Strips. That way, we can switch out sayings without making them permanent. Genius, if I do say so myself.

Option #2 is more of a Harvest feel.

Fall Front Porch and Pumpkins

This time we used furniture and mixed in color and texture.

Fall Harvest Sign

Those Wood Beads do it every time, right? This is our Harvest sign that's great for outdoors or even your mantle. It's in our Etsy shop.

Fall Decor Ideas for the Porch

That Black Rocking Chair is one of my favorite things in this vignette. We switched out the letters on the Orange Board to say Fall.

The striped pillow covers and Velvet Green Pumpkin stems are from Hobby Lobby.

I made the Hayride sign a number of years ago and can't bring myself to part with it. The quilt is something I picked up at a vintage sale. It's the perfect blend of old and new, don't you think?

Pumpkin Patch Decor

I wish I had more pumpkins for the the Wash Tub. Next year. These are from Michaels. We turned the wash tub on it's side for some height. The bench is a great way to get some levels, too.. We used an Olive Bucket and the Box and even added in some of our hand turned Candlestick Holders. Those are also in our Etsy shop, as well as the Pumpkin Patch sign.

I also love me a good Cow Door Hanger. Who says you have to use a wreath on your door!

I cut this one out with my Jigsaw and added in a phrase from a Chalk Couture transfer with White Chalk Paste.

Option #3 is a Halloween Design.

Halloween Porch Ideas

We used some of the same elements, but switched out the Fall Pennant for one that said Boo. (I just used the other side of it.) I used a Chalk Couture font for that, too.

Candy Corn Sign

Our I'm Only Here for the Candy sign is available in our Etsy shop. It would also look great on a mantle.

Halloween Candy Sign

I wish I could remember where I picked up this wood skeleton, but I've had it for years. It was probably from a craft show somewhere. Isn't it fun? I hand painted the Trick or Treat sign, too.

Pick Your Own Pumpkin Sign

The same goes for that adorable Pumpkin Bucket. I wish I had about 10 of them. We used the Harvest letters on the Growth Ruler again and kept the Purple Mums in the standing Wash Tub. This Pumpkin Patch with the Vintage Truck is one I did last year. We have some variations of it in our Etsy shop. And, again let's hear it for those Velvet Green Pumpkin stems. Love!!

Whatever you decide to do with your Fall porch this year, make it your own. Celebrate your creativity and just go for it. I hope these pics inspire and challenge you.

Blessings!
